Its been suggested to us the Kigurumi (Japanese animal fancy dress/pajamas) are to be the latest craze on the raving clubwear scene. They are sure to trip out fellow ravers and featured on Big Brother in 2011. They come in a variety of weights, size and you can pick the animal of your choice.... The Future? Get some genes in your DNA to make you glow in the dark at a rave

In the future their might not be a need to buy UV reactive glowing to wear to raves? Maybe you could do some tinkering on your future children and given them a leg up in raving or at least no longer need the light on at night.

Gene scientists working with Aids have created green glowing cats as part of their work to beat the illness. The animals had their DNA modified with a gene from a fluorescent jellyfish and give off a green glow when placed under a blue light.Cats are susceptible to a feline version of the HIV virus that triggers Aids and overwhelms the immune system.The jellyfish gene was inserted into tabby cats which then gave birth to luminous kittens. The purpose of the study was to find out if a natural protein that prevents macaque monkeys from developing Aids can do the same in cats.

The cats have been engineered, using the jellyfish DNA, to reproduce the restriction factors.The monkeys have proteins known as "restriction factors" that can stop the viruses from invading immune cells. Eric Poeschla, who led the study, said the research would benefit both human and feline health.

A veterinary advisor for the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) said they had ethical concerns about the research. "This type of research on cats serves only to continue our reliance on scientifically flawed animal-based research", he said.

But animal welfare campaigners have opposed the experiments. "Science should instead be progressing in the area of modern, non-animal alternatives."

Fasinators to be big with ravers?

It has been suggested to me that fasinators (dainty posh ladies hats more commonly seen at weddings or Ascot) could be the next big thing in clubland. Ladies breasts get larger report. Does clubwear need more support?

It is reported in the Daily Mail today that ladies breast sizes are getting larger and larger. The average has increased from a size B in the 50's to a size C today. This is a apparently caused by various factors including less exercise, less babies, earlier onset of puberty amongst other things.

Are clubbers classed amongst these women? Does clubwear need more support? Clubbers do come in all shapes and sizes but most are active and fit in the club world, dancing all night at an event takes effort. And that's got to be good for you :)

Raving Clubwear recession?

With this weeks announcements that over 20% of 18-24 year olds now unemployed (and probably a further 30% in full time education) times are very lean for young rave club goers. Does this mean designer clubwear like we sell on the Fantazia site is now unaffordable or an unattainable investment for many?

We are sure people are cutting back in this tough time and it is more important to go out than invest in a new out fit each time. However are ranges of clothing are great value for money. We keep costs down by including postage in our prices and our value ranges are a bargain.

Is rave fashion last year?

In a recent interview I was questioned whether a recent Times piece that neon rave fashion is no longer cool and whether I worried about this? I have no idea what the Ibiza crowd are wearing this summer not do I care what the London media / fashion set are into. All I know is that raving is a state of mind not about being cool. Ravers want to have fun and wear what they want. Of course if this is bright and reacts under rave lights and gets them notice, more the better, it justs means they can meet more like mind friends and break down any barriers.

Will the fashion change? Of course some things will come in and others will go out bt ravers will always want, sexy, bright, colourful clothing or something cheap that can be customised to make a statement. Long live rave fashion forits part of the freedom that makes the events so great

Fantazia clubwear photo shoot

We are doing a photo shoot next week. We are aiming to improve the look of the clubwear section by improving the pictures and giving more consistency. As the clubbing section has grown the pictures have been added on ad hoc and spoil the professional look. We are now going to change that.

The summer is here at that means time for festivals. Days camping a field with the sun beating down with banging beats or bands - well lets hope for the sun at least this year. Music Festivals though have become a place where people let there hair down a little. Perhaps its because everyone is brought down to the same level, all living in tents mixed together snobbery is removed...

So that means you can get away with wearing rave wear that you wouldn't do at your local club. Fluffy boots, uv gear, neon, flashing item, glowsticks - will all make you stand out at the party or make your group have an identity obvious to everyone that sees you.

Our suggestions for a simple and cheap outfit? Not only can you wear bright coloured clothing at a rave why not give your face, hair and body a bit of a lift to. The ranges of UV reactive / neon make ups on sale are large. These are not always to be found in the high street but Fantazia stocks a large range:

My favourites are the body paints shown to the right as they really allow you to go to town painting messages / slogans on your sell or your outfit. I also love the hair dyes and eye dust really makes you stand out.... Colour eyelashes are also cool but not everyone is so keen to wear them as they can get some getting used to.

What sort of raver are you?

According to Fantazia there are 9 distinct different class but do you think there are more or should some of them not be on there? Certainly hippy ravers and nu ravers are rare, but thats probably as they go to their own style of events.

The poll result make the old skool raver the most popular with the ladies votes split fairly equally between the cyber raver and the raver baby.

Its a good idea when reading the different types to maybe also put them in to context by reading the Fantazia rave clothing history section. This gives a brief account of how the clothing has evolved to wear we are today plus a few explanation as to some of the accessories that have become popular or once were.
